What is the purpose of a Skin Care Regimen?
Very simply, a home skin care regimen helps to do the following for your skin: cleanse tone, balance, correct, protect, hydrate, and prevent wrinkles, blemishes and discoloration.
What are the benefits of getting a facial?
Facials focus on specific concerns, as well as to relax and help stimulate healthier skin. Taking time out for a facial creates a commitment and an opportunity to educate yourself on the importance of proper skin care. Facials in conjunction with a home care regimen will result in healthier, younger looking skin
Who will perform the facial?
Our staff of licensed and trained estheticians will assist you with all your skin care needs—before, during and after your facial.
Where does the facial take place?
Our facial room is located in the spa area. You will relax in private surroundings with soft music, and enjoy a heated facial bed.
How do I know what Facial or Skin Care Program is best suited for me?
We highly recommend you schedule a 20 minute consultation with an esthetician so that together you can learn how to maximize your skin care investment. During that time, you will answer some questions to assist the esthetician in evaluating your skin care concerns and create a plan to help you achieve your goals.
Do you have any Products or Treatments that can help my back acne?
We offer acne products that are used during our acne facials as well as our back treatments. They are alcohol free, non-comedogenic, fragrance free and non-allergenic. We offer a basic and an intense line, depending on the grade of acne.
Where will my massage or bodywork session take place?
Your massage or bodywork session will take place in a warm, comfortable, quiet room. Soft music may be played to help you relax. You will lie on a table especially designed for your comfort.
Who will perform the massage or bodywork?
Your session will be conducted by an Ohio State licensed therapist. Although no two massages are exactly alike, you may request a certain technique or modality.
Must I be completely undressed?
Most massage and bodywork techniques are traditionally performed with the client unclothed; however, you may decide what amount of clothing you prefer to wear for your own comfort.
Will the therapist be present when I disrobe?
The therapist will leave the room while you undress, relax onto the table, and cover yourself with a clean sheet.
Will I be covered during the session?
You will be properly draped at all times to keep you warm and comfortable. Only the area being worked on will be exposed.
What parts of my body will be massaged?
You and the therapist will discuss the desired outcome of your session. This will determine which parts of your body require massage. A typical full body session will include work on your back, arms, legs, feet, hands, head, neck and shoulders. You will not be touched on or near your genitals (male or female) or breasts (female).
What lubricant will be used?
An organic, paraban free massage cream or lotion may be used to permit your muscles to be worked on without causing excessive friction to the skin. The lubricants used should hydrate the skin and be readily absorbed. Biotone is also available. Ask your massage therapist for more details about Biotone.
What will the massage or bodywork feel like?
It depends on the techniques used. In a general Swedish massage, your session may start with broad, flowing strokes which will help to calm your nervous system and relax exterior muscle tension. As your body becomes relaxed, pressure will gradually be increased to relax specific areas and relieve areas of muscular tension. You should communicate immediately if you feel any discomfort so that another approach may be taken. Massage and bodywork are most effective when your body is not resisting.
Are there different kinds of massage and bodywork?
There are numerous types of massage and bodywork; various techniques utilize different strokes, including basic rubbing strokes, rocking movement, posture and movement reeducation, application of pressure to specific points, etc. Ask the therapist about the methods he or she uses.
How long will the session last?
The average full-body massage or bodywork session lasts approximately one hour. A half-hour appointment only allows time for a partial massage session, such as neck and shoulders, back or legs and feet. Many people prefer 60 to 90 minute sessions for optimal relaxation. Always allow relaxation time prior to and after the session.
What should I do during the massage or bodywork session?
Make yourself comfortable. The therapist will either gently move you or tell you what is needed throughout the session (such as lifting your arm). Many people just close their eyes and completely relax. Others like to talk during their massage or bodywork. Feel free to ask the therapist questions about massage and bodywork in general or about the particular technique you are receiving.
How will I feel after the massage or bodywork session?
Most people feel very relaxed. Some experience freedom from long-term aches and pains developed from tension or repetitive activity. After an initial period of feeling slowed down, people often experience increased energy, heightened awareness and greater productivity which can last for days. Since toxins are released from your soft tissues during a massage, it is recommended that you drink plenty of water and avoid alcoholic beverages following your massage.
What are the benefits of massage and bodywork?
Massage or bodywork can help release chronic muscular tension and pain, improve circulation, increase joint flexibility, reduce mental and physical fatigue and stress, prompt faster healing of injured muscular tissue, improve posture and may reduce blood pressure.
Are there any medical conditions that would make massage or bodywork inadvisable?
Before you begin your session, the therapist will ask some general health questions. It is very important that you inform the therapist of any health problems or medications you are taking. If you are under a doctor’s care, it is strongly advised that you receive a written recommendation for massage or bodywork prior to any session. Many therapists may require a recommendation or approval from your doctor.
I understand that there are so many different types of massage. How do I know what to make an appointment for?
Please refer to services for a list of a variety of massages that are the most popular. When making your appointment, inform the salon and spa coordinator which one you would prefer. Massage is a very personal service so if you have any questions please do not hesitate and call Options Salon & Spa at 440-331-0084. Our staff of professionals will be more than happy to assist you.
WHAT IS MICROBLADING?
Microblading is a semi-permanent brow tattoo performed with a small handheld tool using a hair like stroke technique to produce the appearance of fuller eyebrows or to enhance the natural features of the face. Microblading is a softer, more subtle cosmetic tattoo than some of the older methods. Body tattoos use ink, while cosmetic tattoo procedures use pigments. These pigments are designed to fade over time gently. This allows the artist to make changes to colors and shapes over the years as a client’s natural coloration and facial changes occur.
HOW LONG IS THE APPOINTMENT?
Two ½ hours on average. During your appointment, we consult with you the entire time to ensure we are on the same page. Most of the time is spent measuring and drawing on a symmetrical brow mapping and agreeing on the perfect shape and color. The actual process itself takes approximately 30 minutes to an hour. The touch up appointment takes approximately an hour and ½.
IS THE FOLLOW UP APPOINTMENT INCLUDED?
To ensure that the browse heal correctly, a minimum of 2 treatments is usually needed 6 to 10 weeks apart. This 1st touch up is included as it gives us the ability to correct any areas that possibly have faded or allows the client to make suggestions and changes if they want adjustments to their shape or color.
HOW LONG DOES MICROBLADING LAST?
The treatment is considered semi-permanent and fades over time. Touch ups are recommended every 1 to 2 years to maintain color, shape and detail. How often depends on several factors, including skin type- oily skin fades faster, pigment color used- lighter colors fade faster. Sun exposure over time can cause fading and discoloration of the pigment, use of daily anti aging products including retin-a’s and alpha hydroxys- these products increase cell turnover rate and shorten the length of your cosmetic tattoo.
DOES IT HURT?
We do everything that we can to ensure that the process is as comfortable as possible. Before the service begins, a topical anesthetic is applied to the area to minimize discomfort, followed by a liquid anesthetic during the procedure. Some clients may feel slight discomfort, but it is relatively pain free for most.
CAN I EXERCISE AFTER MY PROCEDURE?
You must avoid working out for 7 days following your microblading appointment. Light exercising is allowed with minimal sweating, but you must clean the tattooed area with lukewarm water as soon as you are done exercising. The salt in sweat fades pigments very quickly.
CAN I GET TATTOOED IF I AM PREGNANT?
As a precaution to avoid complications, we do not perform cosmetic tattooing on pregnant or nursing women.
PRODUCTS AND EQUIPMENT
To ensure the highest quality of safety and sanitation, all of our tools are one time use only disposable tools. All blades, handheld tools, wipes and other products used during the process are disposed of as bio hazardous waste after each appointment.
